The closures begin Monday, July 30 and last until Friday, Aug. 10 on the Saw Mill River Parkway between the New York City Line and Exit 4 (Cross County Parkway),
Lane closures are expected on the northbound side of the parkway from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. Lane closures are expected on the southbound side from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Motorists should expect delays and seek alternate routes where possible.
Drivers are asked to use caution when traveling through the work zone area and pay particular attention to all traffic control devices, including signs and flaggers.
Motorists are reminded that fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. In accordance with the Work Zone Safety Act of 2005, convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver license.
Recently, NYSDOT and the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee unveiled a new public service announcement and social media campaign focused on the importance of respecting flagging personnel. This year’s work zone safety campaign, “Flaggers have families too,” is designed to remind motorists that flagging personnel are not attempting to disrupt traffic – they are simply doing their jobs and want to get home safely at the end of each work day.
